Getting To Know Mr. Knapp
This is my nineteenth year of teaching. I am a 1984 graduate of Ontario High School. I have an undergraduate degree in Health Education, Physical Education, and Athletic Training from Ashland College and a master's degree in Administration from Ashland University. My wife Shelly is also a teacher in the Lexington School district, we have two children who attend Stingel Elementary school. In addition to being a teacher I also work as the Athletic Trainer for the schools. Therefore I get to see all of the athletic events and take care of anyone who might get hurt. In my free time I love to spend time with my family, landscape, and play golf.
My Mission
My mission in my
classroom is to have my students understand that every child is important, all
students can learn, and we care about others and ourselves. In our
classroom we will respect one another and treat each other like we would like to be
treated. I will do my best to help your child succeed in all that they
do. I also feel it is important that we all have strengths and
weaknesses, We can excel in our strengths and improve in our
weaknesses.
Health
Class
Ohio Revised Code 3313.60 requires all high school students to complete 1/2 credit of Health in order to graduate. Health education is a continuous process that recognizes the changing needs of our community and world. The challenges of health education are to bridge the gap between acquired health information and appropriate decision-making, thereby enhancing the quality of current and future productiveness of life
Physical Education Class
Please come ready to be active. Personal Hygiene is important so please bring a change of clothes and take them home weekly for cleaning. All students receive 5 points for changing clothes and 5 points for participation everyday we have Physical Education Class.
Homework/Classwork
I believe that homework is necessary for practicing skills that have been learned or for enriching the classroom experience. In many cases, homework is simply class work that was not finished. I try to give ample time in class for the completion of most assignments, but some students might need some extra time. I expect all homework to be turned in on time.
