At the
kindergarten level, we continue to work on our letters and sounds. It is our goal that the kindergarten students
will know all of their letters and sounds by the end of the year.
Teachers
are currently identifying students that are not performing at grade level and
those students that are at-risk. I will
be meeting with the teachers to discuss our intervention plans. The classroom teachers will be talking to the
parents of these students during parent-teacher conferences in February.
We have
also been working with our students in the area of writing. Children at the kindergarten level are at the
beginning of the writing process, in which they are making connections between
letters and sounds. The kindergarten
students are presently assessed on letter-sound connections, capitalization,
punctuation and proper spacing.
First
graders were assessed on writing two top quality sentences and the second
graders were assessed on paragraph writing.
Thank you
for your continued support at home.
