Happening in our
classroom:
Next
week we will begin a science unit about force and motion. The students enjoyed our last science unit
about the life cycle of a frog. Ask your
child to explain the cycle to you.
In reading we will continue to
focus on fluency and retelling. I am
currently involved in a book study with other Stingel teachers. The book is titled The Fluent Reader by
Tim
Risinski. The focus of the book is about
oral reading strategies that build word recognition, fluency, and
comprehension. I have started to use
these new strategies with the students.
One strategy is the benefit of repeated readings. As a class we have been doing repeated
readings of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.
I encourage you to do this with your child when you read with your child
in the evening. I appreciate all the
support you give your child at home.
Finally, a thank you to parent’s club
for providing the funds to have COSI On Wheels visit
us. The students had a great time and it
was a fantastic learning experience.
HAVE A RELAXING WEEKEND!!!!
