New Coaching Standards - Sudden Cardiac Arrest

As with all other training requirements for coaches, local school districts are responsible for verifying that permit holders have completed the new sudden cardiac arrest course each year, regardless of the expiration dates of their permits. In addition, while reviewing permit applications in CORE, a district licensure e-signer will need to provide an electronic signature verifying that each applicant has met all training requirements before the Department can issue the permit.  The ODE is continuing to  review the access issues and will provide any additional information resulting from this review as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Just as a reminder, the required components for coaches include the viewing of the video, reading the informational brochure and taking the test, if completed within the LMS. Please note that this course is free of charge, does not require the coach to sign off on any form (like parents and student athletes must do), and is the only acceptable course for fulfilling this new requirement.

Please also be aware of other Lindsay’s Law requirements for student athletes and their parents on the Ohio Department of Health’s website or housed on our website http://www.ohsaa.org/medicine . You may direct any questions about the LMS to Ryan Eldridge; Lindsay’s Law requirements to [email protected]; and coaching permits to [email protected]

Thanks so much for your patience with this process.  Best wishes as we move closer to the start of the 2017-18 school year.
