Mrs. Winningham's 2nd Grade Class

Second graders in Mrs. Winningham’s class have been hard at work researching animals and creating their very first slide shows to showcase what they’ve learned! Thanks to a TAP grant from the Richland County Foundation, the class had access to awesome nonfiction books for their research. Superintendent Strickler caught wind of the project and decided to join the fun! He created a slide show of his own all about owls—complete with a real-life owl encounter he had right on his deck!

Latchkey Information

Beginning August 2025, we will partner with the YMCA to transition our current Latchkey program to the Y Kids Club, which will be housed at Stingel Elementary.

This transition will offer a more robust, reliable, and high-quality before-and-after school care option for our families. The YMCA brings extensive experience in delivering exceptional childcare, and through this partnership, we are thrilled to offer:
    • Extended morning care starting at 6:00 AM along with after school care until 6:00pm
    • Care options during holiday breaks, snow days, delays, and summer—providing more flexibility and better service for parents
    • Increased capacity, allowing us to serve nearly twice as many students in the program and potentially eliminate or at least significantly reduce the waitlist

Enrollment Information: For more details about offerings, pricing, or to enroll, please contact:

Preschool Field Trip

Our preschoolers had a wildly fun adventure during their visit to Gorman Nature Center! They got up close and personal with some amazing creatures, explored the great outdoors, and soaked up all the nature-filled fun!

Military Family Appreciation Week

In honor of Military Family Appreciation Week, Mr. Petit and our amazing Stingel students went above and beyond to show support for those who serve—and the families who serve alongside them. Military students received special shirts to wear, and throughout the week, Mr. Petit and the students participated in daily activities to celebrate their loved ones. The school community also came together to donate hygiene products, which were packaged and sent to deployed service members.

Kindness Club

The Stingel Kindness Club got their hands dirty (in the best way!) for #EarthDay by picking up trash around campus!

Mrs. Barry's First Graders

Mrs. Barry’s first graders had a cool time waddling into their latest research project — penguins! From nonfiction facts to fictional fun, these learners explored what makes these flightless birds so fascinating. They read, watched, wrote an informative class book, and even compared fiction vs. nonfiction by retelling “Penguin in Peril” in their own words.

Mrs. Scott's Kindergarten Class

After a week of diving into all things sea turtles, Mrs. Scott’s kindergarten class got a awesome hands-on experience! To help compare and contrast sea turtles and tortoises, special guests Toby and Tyko—two adorable Russian tortoises—stopped by for a visit, thanks to Mrs. Scott’s daughter Kaelin and Mr. Scott!  Students loved observing their claws and watching them come out of their shells to explore and make some new kindergarten friends.

Mrs. Benavides Fourth Grade Class

In Mrs. Benavides fourth grade classes, students have been diving into the fascinating world of energy—and discovering that it can’t be created or destroyed, only transferred! They became junior engineers by building their own flashlights using button batteries, aluminum foil, and LED bulbs—complete with a tricky challenge: designing a working on/off switch!

Ukulele Performance

Music was in the air at Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting! Mr. Schwall, our Stingel music teacher, highlighted his talented fourth-grade students as they strummed out "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" on their ukuleles!
